Location unlock

Map and project information for the current year are hidden until you arrive at the event. Once the app detects you are near the Tankwa Karoo, all content unlocks automatically -- no action needed on your part.

How it works

1. Download before you go

Install the app while you still have signal. All event data is bundled -- no internet needed at the Burn.

2. Explore the Binnekring

Browse art, theme camps, events, mutant vehicles, and performances. Search, filter, and find what speaks to you.

3. Navigate the dust

Use the offline map to find your way. Mark your camp, locate art, and never get lost in the Tankwa.

2026 Theme

Through The Prism

The 2026 theme invites you to explore identity, perception, and presence through the metaphor of light refraction. Like a prism bending light, our identities are multifaceted -- not a single story but many intersecting aspects. Drawing from the African principle "Umuntu Ngumuntu Ngabantu" (a person is a person through other people), we are defined through relationship and community.
